LCL Filter Parameter and Hardware Design Methodology for Minimum Volume Considering Capacitor Lifetimes

A design methodology for minimum volume of LCL filters applied to grid connected converters is proposed. It combines the determination filter parameter values (inductances and capacitances) hardware (component technology inductor construction). Using proposed strategy, different combinations L-C-L that meet standard restrictions are determined. The influence harmonic content results from considered in order estimate component losses, bus capacitor lifetimes. Results presented lead smallest volume, highest lifetime, or a compromise between both. case study with three magnetic material technologies two types capacitors done. experimentally validated 1 kW converter. Step-by-step procedures parameters provided.
